About Ken

A community leader, Navy veteran, and successful businessman — Ken Brennan is ready to fight for District 50 in Santa Fe.

A product of New Mexico's public school system, Ken enlisted in the United States Navy immediately after high school. For 20 years, he served our country, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.

After retiring from the Navy, Ken worked in the gas turbine and wind turbine power plant sectors, working his way up to becoming a Service and Resource Manager, leading a staff of more than 230 employees. He retired from the private sector in 2023.

When Edgewood citizens had the opportunity to change the governing structure of their community, Ken was a leader advocating to give residents a voice. In 2021, after the town voted to change to a Commissioner-Manager government format, they elected Ken to serve as a Commissioner. He was then selected among his peers to serve as the town's Mayor. Ken served two terms as Mayor of Edgewood, completing his service in January 2026.

Ken and his wife, Debbie, are proud to call Edgewood home. High school sweethearts, Ken and Debbie have been married for 42 years and are members of East Mountain Cowboy Church.

The Issues

Ken is committed to fighting for the families and communities of District 50.

Supporting Law Enforcement

Public safety is a top priority. Ken will advocate for additional funding, resources, and training for NM police officers. As Edgewood's former mayor, he was a strong ally to local and state law enforcement — and he'll bring that same commitment to Santa Fe.

Defending Our Veterans

A Navy veteran himself, Ken understands the challenges veterans face after service. He will fight for additional mental health and retirement benefits — and work to ensure homeless veterans have the tools for a seamless transition to civilian life.

Building a Robust Economy

As a successful business leader, Ken understands Main Street issues. He will fight to cut taxes and government regulations to enable small businesses to reinvest in communities through job creation and expansion.

Expanding Rural Healthcare

Rural healthcare has been an afterthought in Santa Fe. Ken will work to lower drug prices, allow insurance across state lines, cut red tape, and prioritize establishing 24/7 urgent care and emergency services in Southern Santa Fe County and the East Mountains.

Investing in Infrastructure

Ken has a proven track record — securing guardrail funding, a pedestrian bridge via GO Bond, and millions for road improvements as mayor. He'll bring the same energy to Santa Fe: safer roads, better schools, clean water, and economic opportunity for all of District 50.
